Fun. But it is a total piece of crap! LOL

Fun. But it is a total piece of crap! LOL
The knife came in a fairly decent paper box. The stitchings around the Velcro strap came apart when I wanted to take it out of the sheath for the very first time. Didn’t expect things to fail this quickly but shrugged it off. The profile of the handle felt very nice with a 3 finger grip for me. I also liked the blade thickness and overall weight and balance. The knife came with a horrible looking edge. I felt very safe to run my finger down the whole length of the blade; I was correct and there wasn’t a single scratch on my finger. I knew the knife will fail miserably on the paper test but I picked up a receipt which happened to be right in front of me. To my surprise, it made a 1/4 inch cut on that gas pump receipt. LOL Then, I suddenly saw a recessed spot on the edge of the blade. Upon closer inspection, I found 2 more less noticeable recessed spots on the blade. I also saw the edge of the blade close to the tip looked jagged. I thought it was just burr from sharpening but I was wrong. It was very difficult to imagine but the manufacturer really did allow a fine edge knife to leave the factory with a jagged edge and a noticeable recessed spot on the blade! I was cussing when I saw the first recessed spot. I cussed even harder after I found the other 2 recessed spots and the cussing was none stop for well over 30 minutes.Thoughts of returning the knife occurred within a minute after I laid my hands on the knife but I decided to give the knife a chance. All problems I found could be fixed with a little elbow grease and I was very curious to see how well the knife would perform after it was sharpened properly. Maybe too curious. I thought it would take me a while to make those recessed spots disappear and give the blade a new profile since I’ll be removing quite a bit of metal. Boy was I wrong! Those recessed spots vanished way faster than expected because the metal was super soft! Typical drywall screw’s hardness is less than 50 HRC and this knife is noticeably softer than drywall screws! I was sharpening the knife at a super aggressive 12 degree angle at the time because I wanted to see how long the knife could last before the edge rolled. The answer was clear before the sharpening was even completed but I proceeded to finish the job anyway. The edge rolled immediately after I shaved a piece of birch. LOL I then changed the sharpening angle to 17 degrees (which is about the minimum grinding angle for stainless steel knives). The edge stared rolling after around 3 cuts but I almost finished carving a 1/2 inch thick birch feather stick. LOL At 20 degrees, the edge started to roll before I could finish the 1st stick but remained sharp enough for me to almost finish the 3rd stick. At 22 degrees, the edge will become jagged like a mini saw before it started rolling. BUT, the mini saw will disappear with only 3 to 5 swipes on a 600 grit stone. This is amazing and fun for me because I’ve never fixed a jagged blade with so little effort. LOL
