Then came the Weather Underground set up. First, I set up a wunderground.com user account, all well and good. Then I applied for a PWS id, did all that online. Ran into problems when the V40 was not in the list of personal weather station models. So I selected "Other" and then completed the setup on the phone app, Weather Connect. And then nothing happened for over a day.... Not much help on line either. So I tried substituting different LaCrosse station models in the WU-PWS setup page, no luck.
To get it working on Weather Underground, I had to delete the WU-PWS ID that I tried to set up on line, and do the whole WU PWS ID setup on my phone with their Weather Connect app, as a new weather underground Personal Weather Station. When I did it that way, it filled in the sensor type as "La Crosse" without any model number, and made the connection just fine, data was showing up in less than a minute. It also filled in the longitude, latitude, and elevation as well, so was well worth it, and very accurate to location.
The main quirk of the station is that it does not take too much to make it not pick up the sensors. My wind/rain sensor is about 300' away, on a fence pole. And there is a couple of walls between it and the home station. So if an iPad or a flower pot is placed in the way at all, then it loses contact until I move them. I already relocated the T-H sensor to about 80' or so from the house, with a clear LOS between the sensor and the station. Will probably have to do the same with the Wind-rain sensor, which is more complex because it will need it's own pole, not just a handy tree.
I also note that it occasionally is not connected when I first check the station in the iPhone wunderground app. But if I tap "retry" at the bottom of the screen, then it all fills in. Again, probably has more to do with me having the sensors fairly far away, and my family putting stuff close to the base station (the V40).
But overall, other than the kludgy WU setup (that's on LaCrosse), I am very happy with it. Now I can monitor the temperature in my tractor barn, the wind and rain in my pasture, and the temperature and humidity in my fruit cellar. And see my own wind/rain/temp on Weather Underground, not somebody else's!

The rain gage lasted about 1 year. Wind speed went out when the wiring crumbled.
Simple to set up if you watch the YouTube videos showing you how. Watch the videos all the way through and install the app before installing batteries or power supply. Turn off the 5 Ghz WiFi also so that it does not interfere with setup or make sure ut has a different name than the 2.5 Ghz WiFi. Took about 5 minutes to setup and another 5 to setup the weather underground app. Then it took about 5 hours for my station to show up as a choice on the weather underground app.
The only complaint I have at this point is the rod used to mount the rain/wind sensors is not a standard size so the mounting hole on the bottom of the sensors will not take a standard conduit or pipe. It is close to a 3/4 inch but not exactly. Thus, you must use the provided mounting rod.
Will update after 2 months or if problems occur.

Hopefully somebody is reading this as I've still not been able to resolve the issue through Amazon - I've got a faulty weather station that was good for a while and I can't use it now.
