Clean NES console with new 72 pin connector and disabled lock out chip, no more blinking light! Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. New NES 72 Pin Connector Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3! Super Mario Bros. 2.
Product Information
You can feel the distinctive touch of its two rectangular controllers and red buttons, have fun with the system's NES Zapper, and kick back while you use them to play “Duck Hunt” and “Super Mario Bros.”. The console features a loading cartridge in the front and has 2kB of on board RAM, which can be expanded with a game cartridge. With a color palette of 48 colors and six grays and a display resolution of 256 x 240 pixels, you can enjoy the old school style while playing your favorite classics. If you're not the hands on type, then Nintendo consoles can also make great vintage display items. You might not be able to keep your NES games tucked away for long, though. All of the cords are long, which can help if you're using this NES video game console with a modern television. This system weighs 5 pounds and measures 14 inches by 12 inches. You can find plenty of components to make your NES work with different configurations. If you need to connect your Nintendo to a flat screen TV that doesn't have any composite jacks, then a simple HDMI adapter will work. A Famicom games adapter will enable you to play games of this type. You can even play classic Japanese Nintendo games on your NES without requiring a Super Nintendo. Some Nintendo games like “Final Fantasy” and “Castlevania”” feature a Save function. The mini battery in these games enables players to save their progress just like they did back in the 1980s. Playing on the Nintendo Entertainment System can be a nostalgic experience for some. Gamers who were too young to remember the NES when it first came out can still enjoy playing it. Whether it's “Super Mario” you can't wait to play or some other game, this Nintendo system can provide hours of entertainment each day.

So my fiancée had been bit by the nostalgia bug, and being the console gamer she is, she has been hoping to get a NES for some time now. After perusing around different sites and sellers that would work for our current setup, I stumbled across this little baby. I can tell the seller takes pride in the products he sells because this thing works better than the day it rolled off the factory floor! The console came with a replacement/non-oem Nintendo controller with an extra-long, 3.5 meter cable (I also ordered an extra one by itself as this particular package only came with one controller, as well as nes controller extension cables).
Functionally-speaking, it works without problem, and with the disabled lock-out chip, that means the console also accepts imports carts, and game carts not directly certified by nintendo (homebrew and otherwise).
Now, Asthetically-speaking: the console is in pretty decent shape for its age. There are some scratches, but that's expected for a 30+ year-old console. I am most certainly not complaining about that.
Controller ports: I noticed that the controller port 1 lacked any "snap" sound/feel notifying that the controller had been plugged in. The same cannot be said for controller port 2, so I can tell that this console was historically played by a single person.
Otherwise, this was a great deal, and I can definitely tell that the seller/refurbisher is a passionate gamer.
This is a Nintendo NES, it is a five star product if you have nostalgia about it. But ... This is a Nintendo NES, it is a five star product if you have nostalgia about it. But being objective, it arrived as advertised, with all the parts, games and peripherals, everything in a working condition, except for the controller that has a minor responsiveness issue, this is a 37 years old console, keep that in mind. It came with the RCA cable, and the original antenna cable, which funny enough helped me to connect the NES to a fairly newest TV that has no RCA inputs in it, only HDMI, USB, Digital Audio, etc, but it still has the antenna input, so the oldest way to connect the console still is the most reliable for modern TV sets. Now the blinking part, this NES was advertised as Tested, and when I tested the first game it blinked, so I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol (didn't blow it... sorry guys XD) inserted the cartridge again and presto, it worked. Again, remember this is an old piece of hardware resilient enough to endure 37 years, but with characteristics of the technology its time. I also disassembled the NES, gave it a rapid clean and refurbished the 72pin connector just to be on the safe side. It might sound like a super technical procedure, but youtube can guide you if you have the patience.
In general, the product was great, came complete, functional and the price was fair.
If you want to reexperience the golden age of console gaming, then the Nintendo ... If you want to reexperience the golden age of console gaming, then the Nintendo Entertainment System is the way to go.
Since no new games for the console are being manufactured due to the obvious age of the system, selection is limited. However, that does not mean that good games still cannot be found.
If you're like me, and not only want to relive a part of your childhood, but also finally get to play those games that were hard to find or your parents weren't able to get for you, then you won't be sorry. Games are relatively easy to find via the wonders of the internet. It's also been a perfect way to introduce my children to gaming, as many games for the platform are simple to grasp and don't have overly complicated control schemes.
You won't find HD graphics, cinematic cutscenes, or ground-breaking AI, but you will find many timeless classics.
In short, don't accept any emulations/substitutions - get the full experience (including blowing out those cartridges before playing them!) You won't be sorry.
System looks good, everything described was included. However, the AC adapters which ... System looks good, everything described was included. However, the AC adapters which originally came with the product were not included. Not a big deal, but not quite a full set. Solid 4/5 stars.
I'm a lifelong gamer, heck I pre date the NES, I'm talking Coleco and ... I'm a lifelong gamer, heck I pre date the NES, I'm talking Coleco and Odyssey times. I've noticed over the years games have gotten progressively easier and easier, giving kids an inflated ego over their imaginary skills. I'm no soapbox stander yelling for less video game violence or anything but I just ran the new COD and I got tagged by a M60 about 3 times, hid behind a box, regained all my health, popped up and shot down a Harrier with a grenade launcher. Man Rambo ain't got SQUAT on me! I make my son play NES, he really loves it anyways, but I want him to play it to learn you don't win every fight. You don't recover from every wound. To learn a lot of times ONE bullet can end the game. That's what I love about the NES, it doesn't give you any "easy" mode, and it doesn't adjust to how terrible you're playing. Everyone's equal on the NES, there truly are some games I wonder if anyone has ever seen the end of. In the end though there just ain’t much like popping in Arkanoid, Zelda, or heck even old schooler Pro Wrestling, and jamming for a little bit, it just feels so pure.
